Non-discrimination and Equal Opportunity in Employment

We are a diverse community and the Law School seeks to create and sustain an environment of inclusivity for all of its students that is free from discrimination and harassment. The University of Michigan Standard Practice Guide 201.35Links to an external site. sets forth the University’s Non-Discrimination policy (Policy):

The University of Michigan, as an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding nondiscrimination and affirmative action. The University of Michigan is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all persons and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, disability, religion, height, weight, or veteran status in employment, educational programs and activities, and admissions.

Furthermore, discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, or military status violates the University’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunity in educational, occupational, and professional advancement, and the University would review claims of such discrimination in accordance with applicable law and policy.

As a condition of using the Office of Career Planning’s facilities or services, employers must observe the principles of equal opportunity stated in this nondiscrimination policy with respect to their own hiring, promotion, retention, and conditions of employment.

Complaints that prospective employers have violated this nondiscrimination policy, or have otherwise engaged in illegal, inappropriate, or unethical conduct during the recruiting process will be investigated and, where appropriate, sanctions up to and including exclusion from recruiting activities may be imposed.
